lyrics
lay me down on a filthy bed, tell me it's all in my head
wash my hands with gasoline, light a match and flee the scene
pour the wine with arsenic, tell me it's the real shit
serve that soup with mercury, smile and say it's good for me
do it once, do it again, tell me you're my real friend
rewrite the rules, rig the game, tell me i'm the one to blame
put it in, pull it out, smile while i scream and shout
let it go while i bleed, smile and say it's good for me
in the dark, sing to me with your haunting melody
like a broken record on repeat, repetitive and incomplete
hold it too close and it'll choke into a heap of ash and smoke
or watch it die in your hands, don't try too hard to understand
they got mary, soon they'll be comin' to get me
on a cold night, in the moonlight, they're callin' my name
eyes closed, i know how all of this shit is bound to go
they're gonna put us all in chains
don't wear your heart on your sleeve
don't ever share what you believe
don't ever dare to disagree
don't wear your heart on your sleeve

To me this is like 70ies Heavy Metal in nearly all aspects. I can understand the comparisons to Motörhead but to me they don’t really sound like them, except maybe for the Heavy Blue style lead breaks. What they do have is the drive, gravelly vocals and swagger of Motörhead. This they have that in buckets. Super fun Heavy Metal/Hard Rock that just doesn’t age. Harry Harrison
Combining crooned murder ballads with raw, angsty hard rock hooks, Melbourne's The Ugly Kings are a wrecking crew well worth watching. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 15, 2021
